One of the strangest battles during World War Two took place at Castle Itter.

Along with being known as the only battle in American history fought in a European castle from the Dark Ages, the battle was fought against the Nazi's by a coalition of eclectic fighters, ranging from American soldiers, anti-Nazi Germans, and imprisoned French prisoners including tennis star Jean Borotra, and a host of former French Prime Ministers.

The SS were ultimately defeated, but was a strange group of people, both Americans, Germans, and elite Frenchman, to fight against the Nazi's just five days before Hitler's suicide and the end of the war.

Would make for one hell of a movie!

You should write the script - I agree with you, though it does sound like a few war movies I've seen.

Damn, the apostrophes have broken out of their cages and infected your post, Luke. I'll see if I can catch them.

Really interesting piece of history, though. :P
