What's this rubbish about composers dying after 9 symphonies????
You mentioned Schubert.
His unfinished symphony was his 8th.
Dickheads!

My, someone does have a chip on their shoulder.

The curse of the 9th is recognised as a superstition that was probably started by Gustav Mahler, but is not taken seriously.

Several people, including Schubert, are sometimes included because of disagreements and misunderstanding of numbered symphonies.

You just did the classic thing in remembering Schubert's 8th symphony as unfinished and thinking he never did 9, but he's now usually attributed with at least 10 symphonies, complete and incomplete.

Quite so.

A peruse of wikipedia shows that, whilst Schubert's unfinished symphony was indeed his 8th, that didn't preclude him from writing a 9th, or even a 10th.

So it was unfinished because he was a wretched procrastinator and not (as I had always assumed) dead? I feel a bit better about myself now.

Yup! I think he just got bored with it. As anyone would writing the Smurfian hot pursuit theme tune.

Only if I can do the one about strippers and slum landlords again.

Or failing that the one about my wife going to Jamaica.

Putting aside trolling attempt ibannister, do you have any sources to back up your claims?

Well, at least he bothered to look it up somewhere, rather than going with assumptions.

I'd suggest that joeontheland had re-registered, but this chap has a better command of grammar. Perhaps he's one of the underlings.

I don't think he has a good command of punctuation, though; he uses too many question marks and too many exclamation marks.

You're right, but he does seem to know the difference between your and you're, which is an improvement.
