Kopimism (Missionerande Kopimistsamfundet in Swedish) is a newly founded religion in Sweden, where its legitimacy was accepted in January 2012.
Kopimism is based on the belief that all data/information copying ("Kopimi" stems from "copy me") should be a sacred virtue, free (and especially free from indictment) for everyone. In fact founder Isak Gerson wants most copyright laws to be eliminated.
(For an interview with Gerson go here: http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn21334-kopimism-the-worlds-newest-religion-explained.html )

The official logo is a triangular shape with a "K" in it, although it can be altered in appearance depending on what one wants to use it for:

(For their mission statement go to their official site (complete with a new take on the spelling of 'upload'): http://kopimistsamfundet.se/english/ )
In April of 2012 the first wedding was conducted by the Missionary Church of Kopimism. ( http://torrentfreak.com/file-sharing-church-weds-first-couple-120507/ ) and judging by the pictures here http://kopimistsamfundet.se/blog/2012/04/29/first-kopimist-wedding/ it featured some interesting looking robes and a Guy Fawkes mask.

Controversial opinions deem this to be an attempt to deflect from online piracy by accusing any legal action against Kopimism to be religious persecution, others see it likely to be a humorous political party stunt.

(Personal note: As an artist I have my own opinions about copyright infringements, but none the less this is an interesting K-fact.)

How is religion legitimised in Sweden or to that matter anywhere else?

Recognising it as a religion seems to be a great way to stifle professional creativity in a country.
