What activity may cause your knuckles to go white?

Scary fairground ride? Nope. Something nerve-wracking? No evidence so far..

Answer - It is an industrial injury (aka Vibration white finger (VWF) or dead finger) triggered by continuous use of vibrating hand-held machinery and excessive exposure to hand arm vibrations (I will say no more!)

When I clench my fists the knuckles go white.

And I do not use vibrating hand-held machinery to excess.

No amount of fist clenching is making my knuckles go white (although maybe thats because I am beige ;) ) but I read (and may be someone with medical knowledge can confirm) fist-clenching cuts off blood supply to knuckles making them 'appear' white.

A quick search for hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) brought up this ..ouch...

F-ing hell. That is quite something. I was diagnosed as suffering from Raynaud's Disease at one point. Perhaps that explains it.

Could you elaborate on what vibrating hand-held machinery you do use?

... or perhaps specify what is meant by 'to excess'.
