Armenia is a small country in Eurasia's Caucasus region, bordering Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey, and the Black Sea. The capital and largest city is Yerevan, the main contributor to Armenia's population of 3,260,000.

What surprised me about Armenia was its relationship with Pakistan. Pakistan is the only country that does not recognize the Republic of Armenia as a country, just as Turkey does not recognize Cyprus and most of the Arab world does not recognize Israel.
It appears that Pakistan has very strong relations with Armenia's neighbours Turkey and Azerbaijan. The latter's region of Nagorno-Karabakh is claimed by Armenia, which does make sense since 95% of its residents are Armenian.
What doesn't make sense is why this would have such an effect on far-away Pakistan, allies or otherwise. Azerbaijan and Turkey themselves recognize the Republic of Armenia, yet Pakistan doesn't even recognize the Armenian Genocide, the second largest genocide after the Holocaust, during which up to 1 million Armenians were killed by Ottomans in modern-day Turkey.
Can anyone shed some light as to why this relationship is so intense?

My guess is that it's because Armenia also supports India's claim to Kashmir, and the fact that Pakistan just can't be bothered to review the status :)

While not disputing the tragedy of the Armenian Genocide it is likely that Stalin killed more than 1 million people in the Ukraine. At one point 25,000 people were dying a week. Post 1947 China saw the mass genocide of upwards of 20 million, while Gengis Khan's activities depopulated vast tracts of Central Asia in the Thirteenth Century.

Also the very first country in the world to adopt Christianity as its religion.
