Kim Jong-il has been credited with many achievements over the years, including two gold medals in long jump at the Asian Games, and being a Professor of Calvin College's Health and Education department. But this is no hoax, Kim Jong-il legitimately jumped 8 metres in front of a live audience, and went on to teach others.
Not the North Korean Supreme Leader, however. Kim Jong-il (sometimes spelled Kim Yong-il to avoid confusion) is a South Korean track-and-field athlete. This Kim-Jong was a pioneer in South Korean track-and-field, becoming the first from his country to reach a finals round in the Olympic Games.
He retired and entered coaching, eventually completing his doctor's thesis at Washington State University and becoming a professor, all before the turn of the millennium.
As of 2011, he has been doing what any gold medallist long jumper would do, coaching the women's soccer team.
