A.k.a. Bangkok, Thailand.

This is quite possibly the longest place name in the world, even though it is seldom used in full. The most common Thai word for Bangkok used today is 'Krung Thep Maha Nakhon', a shortened version of the entire 167-letter name.
The name was given by two Thai kings of the 1800s, mostly from the Pali and Sanskrit languages of India, and literally translates into something along the lines of:
City of angels, great city of immortals, magnificent city of the nine gems, seat of the king, city of royal palaces, home of gods incarnate, erected by Visvakarman at Indra's behest.
