Koffiepraat

Same for Cloggies. :-)

Coffee culture is much rifer on the Continent, I feel. In Holland, to go to a friend/acquaintance 'on the coffee' is very much ingrained in the national Dutch psyche. I miss that here.

Do you live in the UK now? In the US coffee is all over the place (well, what they consider coffee. I call it liquid charcoal, it tastes burnt to me, not roasted). But the praat along with friends - not so much in the culture here.
Anyways, way off topic. <:)

I've been living in the UK since 1994. And do miss the casual Klatsch at friend's places, too.
Don't worry about veering off topic - doffcocking is a prerequisite here. :-)

That's good to know. :D In fact, when googling 'doffcocking' to ascertain its meaning ALL threads on the first page derived from QI Talk forums. Hahaha...

Ha - I just thought of another K-word: "Kraut". Hopefully, since I happen to be one, no one will go up in arms about political correctness.
In fact: A grouchy German is a Sour Kraut. :D

Nice one. Now - get yer arse to the Liff thread and give us some lovely Germany-based Liffs. The smuttier the better, of course... :-)

Tall order... there are some pretty clever liffs to live up to... Well, should my brain ever surprise me with one I'll be sure to comply. ;)

Re German(y) based Liffs... I've so many in my head ready to go, but I just can't see them work in English... What, for instance, about the beautiful little Austrian village of Mürzzuschlag?

Well, to me it sounds like the extra fiver you have to pay your cleaner to make sure she also mops up in the corners, but that's really strictly for German ears only.
