As I was not aware of Christmas until about 10, I didn't grow up with all the Christmas tales, but I thought naughty children were given coal?

Same daughter, but much earlier (I guess she would have been four or five). Told her that on Xmas morning Santa would leave presents for all the good children.

Daughter says "So do one bad thing and no presents?"

I thought about this and said "Well I suppose he looks at everything you've done since last Xmas and if you've done more good things than bad things you get a present".

This sinks in and then daughter tears up and howls "But that's not FAIR - I've only got a month left...!"

In this article the coal in the stocking is referred to as common "in Western culture", but from my observations it seems to be an American thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_stocking

Hmm, Brendan O'Carroll. I'm not a fan of Mrs Brown, I think it's an old rip off, but as I don't really know anything else about his comedy I hope he has other strings to his bow for the show.

Hmm. Since the episode "Keys" is guested by Bill Bailey, Tim Minchin and Isy Suttie, can we assume that musical keys will be the order of the day?

Thanks, BTW, to germananglophile for the link.

My pleasure. :D The page gets updated within less than a day of the recording, too, so it is a great source to 'update' one's episode knowledge (title, panelists, recording dates which later get substituted with air dates and also listing the 'winner' of each show) almost 'live'.
