Given how often Phill Jupitus mentions kestrels, there HAS to be a question on them.
I don't happen to know any interesting kestrel facts, but maybe someone else does?

Is Phil Jupitus entitled to own a kestrel?

Only if he's a knave, surely?

Kestrels are only used by nobles and Northern loners.

Well nine of them were used by the Tripartite Evaluation Squadron to explore the potential tactical applications of VSTOL jets.

One of them was crashed in low-speed hover manoeuvering by a german pilot who had served in the Luftwaffe during WW2 who took full responsibility for the crash - as the crash crew were cutting him out of the cockpit his first words were:

"Zat now makes eet a total of tventy-NINE Britische aircraft destroyed entirely srough mine own efforts..."

lol.

That reminds me of watching 9 Out Of 10 Cats last night. Henning Wehn was a guest and the conversation was about Britain in the EU. One of the other guests (Sean Lock?) had mentioned that there were two point that the Germans should remember; World War One and World War Two.

Henning shrugged and responded, 'Third time lucky?'

Actually I've just looked that one up, and I was wrong! The pilot in question was Colonel Gerhard Barkhorn who, as the second-highest scoring fighter pilot of WW2, shot down a total of 301 British, Russian and American aircraft. So it would have been the "302nd Allied aircraft" rather than the 29th that my disfunctional memory suggested.
