A related legend from the Royal Navy is that of the Golden Rivet.
When a navy ship paid a courtesy visit to a coastal town; local people were invited to tour the ship, conducted by one of the sailors.
If one of the visitors was a nice young lady, the sailor would tell her the yarn that the last rivet put in during construction was a gold one; and offered to show it to her. It was, of course, located in a dark inaccessible place, and could only be seen by leaning over a railing down below.
The same yarn might be spun to a fresh young boy who has just joined the company.

Kinell, of course, was named after the ancient Chinese philosopher, Fu' Kinell.
