How many calories in a 1 cal oil spray?

1 calorie? Nope
1000 calories? (ah, you thought you had it then) Nope.

There are approximately 900 calories in each spray of 1 cal cooking oil. As food calories are actually kcal (1000 actual calories), and there are actually only 0.9 kcal in each spray, you get 900 actual calories; not 1.

In Japan, at least, kcal are quoted as kcal.

Misappropriating the word calorie to mean kilocalorie (which I imagine happened in the US, as likewise organic to mean all-natural or ultimate to mean the best) seems like a way for advertisers to artificially boost the apparent healthfulness of their less-than-wholesome products.[/i]

There's nothing wrong with kcalories. In my more vigorous hill-walking days I took 8 full-sized Mars bars a day to keep me going.

After getting back to fell waking, I am now experimenting with alternating with mint cake and tablet. It's tough being a researcher.
