Jack,Jill,Jacob, Jay.

There seem so many names begining with J.
For the first letter of account names J is there in about 6% of cases. Account names are usually names.
In English J is about 0.15% of all letters used.
Quite a disparity

Why so many first names starting with J?
There seems to be a biblical/jewish connection as so many names derive from the bible.
But why are do many ancient jewish names start with a J?

Also, Suze mentioned in post 833071 that J is the most common first letter for boys' names.

Because many (if not most) Hebrew names are theophoric which is to say they contain the name of God somewhere in them. Two common forms of that name (the Name, capital N, being forbidden) are 'El' and 'Yah' (or 'Ja'/'Jo' when transliterated) thus from the one common names like Daniel, Elizabeth, Michael, etc and from the other Jacob, Jonathan, Joanna etc. Some even have both, such as Elijah.
