What is the most common British Mammal?

Incorrect answers:

Human beings,

Correct answer:

the field vole.

Field voles are very widespread and are currently thought to be the most common British mammal; a recent population estimate put the number of field voles in Britain at 75,000,000. They occur at densities of 100/ha in spring.

in 2011, there were believed to be around 60 million in Scotland alone and that population could grow a lot bigger.

In 2012

Evidence last year indicated field vole numbers had swelled 10 times in Scotland - pushing their population into the hundreds of millions.

I'd have thought the owls would have sorted that since 2010/11.

Rats get my vote.
