Personally I don't mind at all being slagged off in this forum, still less having my heels nipped at. If someone flames me I may flame back, but in a spirit of cheerful rumbustuousness. Actually it's all grist to the mill.

I think the main thing people need to remember is the journey is always beter than the destination. By all means pull up anyone on the site, even those that do not hold the official post of researcher, it shows that what was in the post was interesting and has been read. All you need to remember is there is no reason to be rude in correcting someone, they after all want the same thing as you - to discover the correct answer.

I'd love to be a QI elf though. Just for the look on the Customs man's face when I present my passport.

I think your passport is well out of date.

I don't actually have one, I was just thinking it would be quite amusing, should I ever get one, to have 'QI Elf' written on it. Why, don't you have to write your occupation on anymore?

Of course, if you don't become an Elf, you could always become an Elvish Impersonator.

Y'know, once we've finished watching every episode of Red Dwarf backwards to find out if there's a hidden meaning...

Seek out Arthur Smith! He guides the way...

Not for many years. I'm on my 3rd 10 yr passport and none of them have had 'occupation' on them.
To get a new passport (not a renewal) this year you will need to attend an interview to prove your right to have one.

Elves have no biometrics. It's one of their special powers.

Not yet you don't (nor will you if I have anything to do with it)! Unless you mean the biometric that is the photo of your face, of course, but passports have had facial photos on them in some form for donkeys years...

It's almost worth pretending to be an asylum seaker in order to have fun doing the interview! ...Or am I being perverse? :o)

What's the other one? I've forgotten. Was it something to do with knees?
