Really enjoy your show! Just wondering why people are treated like naughty school children on this show? Is this simply the preferred ideology of Q.I?
Clever and funny host. Clever and funny adult co hosts also.
I am very curious as to why Alan Davies so often scores last as well?
Maybe this is your winning formula or just a particular brand of humour
Many seasons down and so many of us watching, maybe I am the only one concerned by its presentation. |

I think the short answer to that is "yes"!
Stephen Fry is both very clever and quite posh, and a fair amount of British humour revolves around the idea that clever and/or posh people are extremely patronizing.
Some of them really are - although of course most are not.

Oh, that bit is easy - it's because he's stupid.
He isn't of course. I suppose by now he's better known for QI than for anything else, but he's also known as an actor and he's far from stupid. But he likes pretending to be! |

Alan Davies plays a smart person on "Jonathon Creek". |

And it's not like he doesn't get the piss taken out of him for it by the panellists, so it's really all good, no? Anyways, to me it's all part of the humour of the show. Stephen has always done the patronising school master supremely well, so why not capitalise on it?

It's the way the audience prefers the presentation. It may be a British thing, who knows?
We tend to cringe at shows where the guests are fawned over and 'everyone shall have prizes', I think the QI audience is a tad too cynical for that. The guests know what the format is so nobody takes it seriously, and (apart from one or two) nobody is competitive.
It's a comedy show that challenges our knowledge rather than a quiz show. A large part of the comedy comes from the format of Stephen being patronising to the guests.
Oh, and Alan Davies plays the Fool because it nicely counterpoints Stephen's Genius persona, and allows him to speak 'for the masses' by getting things wrong a lot. |

I thought this was the case but when I asked the opinions of my butler, scullery maids and groundsmen they all said that I was just one of nature's natural comics. Which is nice as it means they keep their jobs. |

True enough. Although even then it is presented as being a rare and special event, rather than just 'actually, Alan is a bright lad who knows the way the show works by now.'
Have the Aussies caught up with the shows where Alan wins yet? |

Have the Aussies caught up with the shows where Alan wins yet? | My memory is of him winning the "D" series prog on Drinks so they should have. |
