The city of Vancouver has banned bagpipe busking.

There is much hue and cry. With a kilt wearing Scot as mayor, I can't see this one lasting long.

Me either. Vancouver's public servants have a bit of a reputation for banning things without consulting the Mayor and Council, and the Mayor and Council are rarely shy about letting their feelings be known.

What gets into these bureaucratic assholes who do their best to put the mockers on anything that makes a city interesting and fun?

It happens everywhere, not just Vancouver. A pox on all their houses!

Important lesson people ... if the water is rushing out really really fast *RUN AWAY* - do NOT go and 'check out what the heck is going on'

I would just like to lend my full-throated support to any ban on the playing of bagpipes, anywhere, anytime.

I was driving around NZ a few years ago, and stopped in a little backwater town in the Northland. Getting out of the car I was able to hear someone playing Pokarekare Ana on the bagpipes in the far distance in the rather tropical humidity.

The world needs more pipers. Everywhere.

A gentleman is one who *can* play the bagpipes, but doesn't.

That article at no point says that he is dressed as an imperial stormtrooper from the film Star Wars, a woork of imaginative fiction.
