Naa - but wouldn't have minded motorbiking/cycling.

Although last time I decided to cycle any distance I had a leg in plaster, then the rear axle snapped and reality bit. So reluctantly went by train.

Cowboy Jeff moved back to the States to open a dude ranch!
Never heard what happened to Spacey Pete......always remember him buying vegetarian souvlakis in athens......basicly a normal souvlaki without the meat! The Greeks thought he was nuts....which of course he was. Kevin is still going strong and im still in touch with him. He and Kathy lived together in Athens for quite a few years, but split up. Bob, i sent your email addy on to Rainbow Barry. Sorry, havent returned to this site and thread for a while, so only just found your email.
I must know you Bob......we were both there at the same time. Who did you drive with?
My son visited athens last year and went to my old Pub, theyve reopened it under new owners........he heard a lot of stories about 'the original Pub' lol, funny how tall tales become over the years!!!!

seems to be the present-day equivalent of the 60s/70s Hippie Trail, but doesn't seem to have the same aura.

Reminds me of the time when I introduced pancakes in the Arab Quarter of Jerusalem (mid 70s). Me and baby brother were slaving away in the kitchen of a chai shop and one Westener after another wandered in, sniffing the air and exclaiming, "PANCAKES!". We did very good business indeed until Ramadan came upon us, and the shop was shut.
Nice memories.

I was a courier on Magic Bus going between Copenhagen and Amsterdam in 1980-81. As somebody wrote, there had been a bus company called Rainbow Bus, and my boss, Thorkild Bangsbo Andersen, had worked for them as a chauffeur on the hippie trail to India.
When employed I had previously traveled as a passenger from Athens to A'dam in 1979.
So I checked in a lot at the Rokin, where a plane department, Magic Plane, was as well. Greg Williams was the boss, and he went on to become a truck driver out of Togo, where he also passed away.
In Amsterdam the company also had a hotel on Nieuwe Zeids Voorburgswall near the Central Station called Magic Inn. There was also a hotel in Athens called Hotel California.
I loved Magic Bus.

People used to send me post cards to the Hotel Tempy in Athens for a long time after they had moved on.. Great days..
I used to busk in the Plaka in Athens as well to get funds for my exploits .. Best memories ever ... Thank you Magic Bus and all who sailed in her, Remember George the Greek ( na Creten) driver ,, what a great guy
