i just wanted to know whether the word 'hello' was created by Alexander Graham Bell?
and it turn out to be that,the first person Graham Bell called was his sister?and surprisingly his sister's name is Hello?

It was mentioned in Series 2, Episode 5, that the word hello was invented by Edison. The episode also mentioned that Alexander Graham Bell said Ahoy hoy when he answered the phone.

Edison didn't exactly invent the word "Hello" - it already existed, but was not especially common and meant something a bit like "WTF". What Edison did do was cause it into use as a common form of greeting.

Why he did so, nobody knows. It just might be that Edison's "hello" was an unintentional borrowing from Hungarian - see post 427261 for the explanation.

A G Bell had two brothers, Edward and Melville, but no sister.

"Ahoy hoy" is used by Mr Burns in the Simpsons.

As "Hello" was a term of surprise, perhaps Edison's initial use of the word was one of surprise, and like many other words evolved into a different meaning.
