I had occasion to use a good old word today; antimacassar.
Not heard much these days, sadly, except on ARS.
Have we any other good old words that pop up from time to time?

I used that very word antimacassar not even 7 days ago.
You will still hear it in Holland every now and then.
Got to do with our colonial past.

Not sure there's much call for antediluvian words.

Bespoke

Tends to still be used more on that side of the pond than this one. Don't hear it often in North America... but it's such a lovely word

When you deal with quite a few old dears in council housing, you hear that word quite often.

yeah verily when two or three are gathered they shall recite the parrot sketch.
It is an ex-parrot.
It has ceased to be.

They were Dutch students. And they often parrotted phonetically, as lots of the expressions whooshed over their heads.
