Wow! It's not often that I sit there watching a show when someone mentions the carriage of dangerous cargoes... particularly nuts! I get involved in the certification side of this at work, so I was sooooo surprised to hear it mentioned on the TV! Yes, the nuts would be included under the general definition of 'seed cake' which is a class 4.2 dangerous good. I know some may think it's sad to get excited over such a brief mention... but we'll all be talking about it at work on Monday!

Looking forward to the next series......

Thanks for the endorsement. Tell us something else about danger or dangerous cargoes (or anything) and who knows but that it mightn't get used next year ...

Anything beginning with the letter D would be great! Over-inflated dinghies, perhaps?

It's nice when a fact pops up on QI and you think "I knew that!", but to actually be directly involved with the subject must be very amusing.

Are nutmegs nuts?

Technically pistachios are actually drupes containing a seed, I believe.

"Drupe" - now that's a word that puts you off eating the things.

Nutmeg is the seed of the myristica tree and mace is the stuff which covers the seed.

And cinnamon is the cambium layer of the bark of the same tree.

Where did you get that idea gerontius?

I'm astonished at you posting unsourced information in an authoritative manner.

Please justify your remarkable assertion immediately, lest you mislead the charming young people who cluster here.

I knew that thing about the chickens - they did an experiment on Brainiacs. Frozen chickens will penetrate a windscreen much further than unfrozen ones.

Sorry, it was Mythbusters. Far superior programme.

The RHS Encyclopaedia of Herbs, but what would they know?

I might have remembered it wrongly, I will have to check.
