Apologies if this is posted elsewhere, or if I'm posting this question in the wrong place - but will there be a Christmas episode this year? If so, does anyone know when it will air?

Thanks in advance ....

No. This year we just decided to make all twelve programmes as good as a Christmas special, only without the Christmassy bits.

In the seasonal spirit of panto, may I just say: Boo Hiss.

No offence, Flash ^_^

If there had been a Christmas episode, I think it would have been scheduled to be shown at Christmas.

Why not construct a fantasy Christmas episode on this forum?

So, (in my role as Mr Fry)

Where would you find a Xiphisternum?

OK, I'll take Alan's role for this question.

In the body?

Surprisingly, no "woowoos"/klaxons
But wide gestures and cries of "you are close"

Huh........ Is it Christmas already.......?

OK then....

The Xiphoid Process is located at the bottom of the Sternum (in the Human anatomy). The name suggests "a type of sternum that has a xiphoid process" which would imply this type of sternum can be found in a certain type of organism so my first guess would be: 'Mammals'!

(Wouldn't really know what the xiphoid process is for. Enlighten us....)

Good point. Birds are close in the evolutionary chain. Large xiphoid for attachment of large flying muscles? So next guess would be: "Birds"?

Ours would be an evolutionary leftover.

Some points to QI individual...

It is the sword shaped point of the breast bone Gr -Xiphos - a sword, hence Xiphias, swordfish in modern Greek, nice when charcoal grilled.

I hope we are all remembering this for 2026, when we should have got to X...

Unless of course the word sternum has another meaning outside of anatomy.
