Oh, Dix, my heart goes out to you.
Always awful.

She is gone.

We are still isolating, so someone had to pick her up and take her to the vets for us. In any case, we would not have been allowed in.

The kind man also had done some food shopping for us so we could occupy ourselves with some cooking after we had handed her over.

That sounds like the kindest thing one can do under the circumstances. It's such a sad thing.

That's sad Dix - sorry to hear it, especially as she wasn't that old. Our two are fourteen in the summer, which I guess is starting to get on a bit in cat terms. Our previous cats died at 15 and 20, and the one I had before that was 17.

Yes, when I was asked to go around to my former neighbour's place, one of his White Cat Trio as I call them, wasn't looking good, her legs don't work properly anymore and she was lethargic on the couch.

She'd be around 14-15, with her daughter cat then a year or so younger and the other cat is the same breed but not related, and a similar age or about a year younger than the daughter cat.

My ginger cat turned 13 last October and so far is still ok. A current neighbour's cat is around 16-17.

Condolences Dix. As someone who's gone through this with a couple of previous cats, it's an unfortunate part of owning a cat (or being owned by one).

It's hard to describe the level of emotional toll this takes on you, so please take care of yourself.

Just seen a report from a friend whose two year old attends day care.
Another mum from this day care died suddenly last weekend aged 31 and 27 weeks pregnant, from a brain aneurysm.

TOIL's mother has died. She was in her mid-90s and hadn't been well for some time, so not exactly a shock. However, that's both her parents gone now.

It's always a shock whenever that happens, even if the parent in question is well advanced in years. Condolences to your sister in law, Martin.

One of my favourite former students who got married less than 2 months ago was involved in a serious car accident yesterday. A wheel left a vehicle, crossed the median and slammed into their car. Her husband took most of the impact when it came through the windscreen. She is physically okay as is her stepdaughter (5 year old) but her new husband is in ICU and it's not looking good. So, so unfair.
