| A King in New York, Chaplin's final feature with him in a starring role. Quite clever moments but overall not entirely great. |

Saw Super 8 in the cinema in KL on the way back from Bali, a very well made modern day 70/80 kids adventure monster movie let down somewhat by a very shmalzy ending. ET meets Cloverfield (Considering the creative forces, you couldn't get a more apt description).
If i ever met JJ Abrahms, i would feel compelled to say something like "We get it, you like lens flare!" |

| Watched A Town Called Panic/ Panique au Village, which is a brilliantly funny Belgian stop-motion animation, in the same style as the Cravendale milk adverts (Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilk!). I love it as it just a bit crazy, with no real thread in the plot and the most random things happening. |

| Ooh, I remember they had a television series that was shown on kids' TV (it may still be). |

| Just watched Infernal Affairs, much much better than the remake The Departed. |

| Hopefully not that sanitized version that is being shown on AMC just now. |

| I began to watch it but the when the plumbing salesmen said "that WATER right out of your house" instead of shit, I moved onto the X Files on BBCA. |

It doesn't bother me too much usually. It does grate on me in Blazing Saddles, I'll admit.
Yesterday I watched Me, Myself, and Irene, highly sanitized for whichever channel it was on. SpousalUnit and I had a rollicking good time making fun of the dubbing. |

| Don't ever watch Angelheart on broadcast TV, cut so much that it's unintelligible. |

| Watched Arizona Dream, which was really very good. A tad "pretentious" if you could call it that, but it wasn't a bad thing. And the cast was great: Johnny Depp, Faye Dunaway, Jerry Lewis, Vincent Gallo and Lili Taylor (with a cameo by Michael J. Pollard). |

I went to see Tree of Life yesterday - that is, we started seeing it. We actually walked out after half an hour because we couldn't face another almost two hours of it. I think that may be the first time I've ever walked out of a movie I've paid to go and see.
People who like that kind of art-house movie have praised Tree of Life, but frankly I thought it both boring and pretentious.
We moaned in a fairly jokey fashion to the cashier on our way out and they actually gave us vouchers to come back and see another movie on another day - result! |
