Looking at its reviews it's not one I'd be wanting to see. Watching Citizen X just now. Damn good.

Watched Little Big Man, which was extremely enjoyable and well-shot.

One of Hoffman's best movies.

And coincidentallyish, Straw Dogs was directed by Sam Peckinpah, who directed Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia, which I just watched and which was really quite good.

Just got back from seeing a 4K restoration of Taxi Driver. A bit grainy, but really glorious. That makes it the third time I've watched the film now, and it's really great, which makes me wonder why I didn't like Mean Streets much (or The Departed, for that matter; but I've yet to see his other films).

On Wednesday I also watched Ride in the Whirlwind, a bleak Western by Monte Hellman, and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, which was quite cool. Today I watched Hellman's second Western (also with Jack Nicholson), The Shooting, which was much better and bleaker.

What We Do Is Secret.

A biopic of Darby Crash, singer with LA punk band The Germs who comitted suicide by taking a heroin overdose on December 7 1980, one day before John Lennon was assassinated.

Shane West, who plays Crash, did such a good job that The Germs actually reformed in 2005, after the film had wrapped, with him taking Crash's place as their vocalist.

On Monday I went to the actual proper cinema for the first time in about half a year, and watched Source Code, which was pretty good, although quite internally inconsistent. Afterwards, I rewatched The Valet (La doublure) with my dad; it's a really fantastic film.

I just got back from watching Metropolis at the cinema; it was the most recent restoration they made. I hadn't seen it before, and I experienced a complete mindgasm. Everything was completely fantastic and epic.

I took my granddaughter to see Mr Popper's Penguins the other day - typical Jim Carrey vehicle and not a great movie, but it was undoubtedly quite funny.
