The first album I bought was Get Away by Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames. That was in 1966 (funny that - I just checked the date it was released and in my memory it was a little earlier than that).

Some tracks - Sitting in the park, Get Away, Funny how time slips away.

I can't remember what my very first album was, but one of them was the Up the Junction sountrack by Manfred Man to the Peter Collinson movie, 1968.

Bohren & Der Club Of Gore - Beileid

German dark jazz/ambient. Music for the small hours of a gloomy Saturday morning. Which explains why I'm listening to it on a wet Sunday afternoon.

They started out with more of a doom metal influence, but when their guitarist left the band in 2000, they replaced him with a saxophonist so all of their post-2000 releases sound quite similar to Beileid.

Now moved on to...

Sleep - Dopesmoker

The 1h 03m 31s paean to... err... smoking dope.

It was re-released, in a remastered form, last Friday to mark 420. I'm listening to the 2003 release in anticipation of my new CD falling through the letter box.

Drop out of life with bong in hand.

OFF! - First Four EPs

Punk rock supergroup consisting of members of Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Rocket From The Crypt, Hot Snakes, Burning Brides and Redd Kross. 16 tracks in 17 and a half minutes!

If You Don't Know OFF!, You Aren't Punk!

Probably not a good idea to listen to something with so much energy when I should be winding down for the day.

Alice Cooper, Pretties for You. It's his first album, and indeed, his band's first album (this was during the time when he was still making music as part of his band, which was called Alice Cooper, before he broke off to do solo work).
It's kind of like a Who/Beatles/Pink Floyd mash-up. I like it.
Some samples:
"No Longer Umpire"
"Apple Bush"
"Today Mueller"

A new day yesterday - Joe Bonamassa

My latest buy. Can't remember where I first heard him, but it obviously prompted me to get this CD.
Am quite happy.

The Cure - Faith

What can I say... I've been feeling a bit gloomy. And I always turn back to The Cure when I feel a bit gloomy.
