John Challis has died

Better known to many as 'Boycie', not to be confused with a place in Idaho...

Met him when we had some of the Only Fools and Horses cast and one of the 3-wheelers at work for some reason that I don't remember after all these years.

This name may not mean much to most of you, but he's a Victorian and Australian institution.

Businessman John Elliott has died, aged 79, after a fall. I have only just seen that he was in hospital on September 11.
He was president of one of our Aussie rules football clubs and often described as a 'larger than life/colourful character', known for his brash nature and attitude.

That struck a chord. Well three of them, actually... :0)

RIP Alan - the 70s wouldn't have been the 60s & 70s without you.

Bass players for the most part play individual notes, rather than chords, of course, but you still made me smile.

Indeed. I'm sure there would be areas we disagreed on, but I understand he was a thoroughly good and capable man who exhibited high degrees of integrity. And it's always tragic when someone is struck down at such an early age. Thoughts must be with his family.

Yes - a very decent man who was able to work across parties. I thought he was particularly good as Northern Ireland Secretary.

Shame there aren't a lot more Tory politicians like him.
