I have no idea why [url-https://youtu.be/dLTETaWswCY]this[/url] is in my head today.
We watched a programme about her a few weeks ago that counted down her best-selling songs.

Fixed the link, there was a dash where an equal sign should have been.

I woke up this morning with this abomination drowning out everything else in my head. She's actually very good (and I like her name).

I was suddenly inspired last night to start watching Blake's 7 again.

So of course this is my earworm today:

Thanks for that Planxty version of The Blacksmith, AFB - I know the Maddy Prior version but hadn't heard that one.

This.
I don't know what it's called, or how I came across it; but it has taken up residence in my head and shows no signs of leaving soon.

This one is hanging out in my head at the moment. It's lovely, fortunately. Red Wine Promises by Richard Thompson - a song written by Lal and Mike Waterson.

There was something about this pickled egg
That wasn't really right
It was out of all proportion
And it gave me quite a fright

The Roundest Pickled Egg I've Ever Seen

Sunshine Sometimes by Bedouine. Sounds like Kirsty MacColl singing James Taylor.

Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, second movement after watching a video/virtual tour today for the rescheduled-to-online Open House weekend program.
This was 'background music' for one of the churches I viewed today.

I played it to death 20 years ago in a string quartet and could probably play the entire thing from memory. (and a fair chunk of the other two movements as well)

And the second one is so much nicer than the first one, imho...

And talking about over- and underexposed movements... Oh the plight of being German and trying to enjoy Haydn's Emperor Quartet in full! You know the second movement, trust me on this, and it's beautiful. Only, well, you listen to the first one and it's also beautiful, but you can't really focus on it because your brain knows exactly what's next and has already earwormed you with it before the first one is even three bars in. Then, finally, the second movement starts. Lovely. You half-arsedly sing along with it feeling vaguely embarassed with yourself even when actually in the privacy of your own shower. And then the tune repeats. Repeatedly in variations. It's still beautiful, but at the bottom of your heart you find yourself wondering who won the silver and bronze and wishing they'd move on to the coxless four already. Finally the third and only now do you really get to settle down and concentrate and enjoy the music. In short - just say no when anyone suggests you set your national anthem to a classical piece. It takes all the joy out of it.
