That classic from my childhood, 'My Bruvver' by Terry Scott. And I don't even have a brother.

I went to see Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World on Saturday, and this song was part of the soundtrack - keeps echoing in my head: Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe by The Hollies.

There's a current tv ad for a supermarket chain in Melbourne, Aust. that airs a lot at present, and it's quite a catchy tune. Can't think of it right now, though!

Can't be that catchy then, can it.

I've had the little guitar riff in the intro of A Forest by The Cure floating about in my noggin all day.

Colin just grumbled that he's had "Frere Jacques" in his head all day.

Usually when he gets a song stuck in his head, it's a song featured in a movie that will turn up on TV within a week or so. Which is an interesting psychic power, but not a particularly useful one.

I thought I had that power, until I realised that I thought of so many random songs that it was pretty much expected that one of them would match up with something I see on tv or hear on the radio.

Once again, I have Bob Marley in my head, not of itself a bad thing.
There is a bloke at work who is one of our patrol officers, named Lee Jarmyn.

That one that goes
'LAAAAAAAAAAAAA
LA-LA-LA-LA-LAAAAAAAAAA
LA-LA-LA-LA-LAAAAAAAAAA
LA-LA-LA-LA-LAAAAAAAAAAAAA!'
I'm sorry, that's all I know of it.

I've been getting the Esperanto song La Velŝipo Magdalena (= The Sailing Ship Magdalena) in my head the past few days. It's quite jolly.

A very loose translation:

On the good ship Magdalena,
Breakfast was like this:
Beefsteak with a full bottle,
Hey, it's a hard life!
The sailors stand on deck,
The skipper cries aloud:
"I'll pay a bonus without regret
If you don't complain during the voyage!"
"No, no," say the brave sailors,
"No, no, no, we prefer to complain."

On the Magdalena every sailor
Sweats like he's on the beach,
He's on duty three hours a day,
Hey, it's a hard life!
The sailors stand on deck,
The skipper cries aloud,
"I'll pay a bonus with pleasure
For just one extra hour!"
"No, no," say the brave sailors,
"No, no, no, in fact we work too much."

There's no lack of rum or wines,
We have a cargo of whores,
Three girls for every man,
Hey, it's a hard life!
The sailors stand on deck,
The skipper cries aloud,
"I'll pay a bonus over and above
If you content yourselves with two!"
"No, no," say the brave sailors,
"No, no, no, three isn't enough."

A few weeks ago we watched a prog about David Bowie and his performances through the years. Over the last few days I have had Life on Mars going round and round my brain.

No... No, I think it's a '50s rock 'n' roll type song.
