Put an empty cardboard box down near the fire.
Let the cat in.
What do you expect?

One cat, looking as smug as a smug thing.

No chance!
These were boxes of bits for the Better Half's electronic cigarette business.
But they had to be checked out by a competent cat.

Rule of nature. No empty box wil be left un-catted if a feline is within 100 yards.

The kitty I occasionally look after shows absolutely zero interest in boxes. Plastic bags on the other hand*...

I sometimes worry that she'll manage to asphyxiate herself while I'm out.

Similarly, a piece of paper, no matter how small, placed upon a flat horizontal surface, will be sat upon.

Especially if you are trying to read it. Also, the very section of jigsaw you are working on will also be sat upon.

Here's Flint! He seems very happy now, and he was actually playing with my boyfriend and a furry purple snake (!!) and coming out of his shell a bit.

Oh he is a very handsome tuxedo :)
I've always liked them

I'm lacking a tuxedo in my menagerie at the moment.

He's gorgeous! All the best cats are black and white.

Mr Swot's mother's cat does this too, an also pats your face when she's being cuddled, or ignored when the owner of the face is asleep.

I think Theo would disagree, though his mouse-catching skills are shite.
We have just had an episode of trying to get the mouse he brought in 10 or so days ago, previously believed to be deceased, who reappeared in the kitchen/dining room. Theo actually had the wee beastie in his chops, and damn well dropped it. It is now behind the sink/washing machine/fridge area again, and humane traps have been re-deployed.
Grrrr.

As for Flint, is he from a rescue centre, strawhat? Do you know any of his previous history? He is a very handsome fellow, and I love the appellation 'tuxedo' from OE.

Yes, Kez does that too! Or when she's just sat watching us doing housework or whatever, she'll raise one paw as we walk by like a dog that wants to 'shake hands'. ^_^

One of my friend's cat did that sort of thing. She walked up to me (the cat) and punched me firmly on the shin.

Theo headbutts our shins, rather than rubbing round them, like most happy cats tend to do
