I watched series 4, too. Much better than 2 and 3. Nice tying up of various old threads.

We just watched "The Voices"
One of the weirdest films I've seen in a while but I quite enjoyed it, particularly Mr Whiskers.

Mr Whiskers and his Scottish accent are the dog's bollocks! 😂 A movie that is as sick as it is hilarious.

It was bemason's choice. I enjoyed it but bemahub hated it. He was very irritated that the chap "decided" not to take his meds.

He'd jump from a high building were he in any sort of mental health profession. A patient not taking their meds for a variety of reasons is a highly realistic scenario and the bane of every psychiatrist's life

*whispers* He's a Mental Health nurse.
I think it's more a comment on the poor support the chap received from Mental Health services.

Ooooooh... Dislike driven by professional frustration then. 100% fairy nuff! Me, I kinda saw Jerry's point.

Ed Stafford - Into the Unknown

In this episode he explores some mysterious black dots in the Danakil Desert in Ethiopia. The indigenous Afar people from the Danakil area often sharpen their teeth, something I never knew until now! Certainly makes for an interesting aesthetic, especially considering he gets woken up in the desert by a stranger with the aforementioned sharp teeth!

Last night I watched the first episode of the new BBC series of Pullman's His Dark Materials*. I was a promising start, and I'll definitely continue watching, although I wish they hadn't included the long spoiler-ridden set of preview snips for subsequent episodes at the end.

I've also been seeing trailers for a new BBC production of HG Wells War of the Worlds. This has been made as radio series and films many times, but as far as I know this is the first time it's been done incorporating two features of the original book:

1. The events take place in southern England (not the USA), with the initial landings on Horsell Common near Woking (a place I'm very familiar with for reasons too boring to be of interest).

2. The events take place in Victorian times, rather than the 1930s, 50s, or early 21st century (I think that coveres all the films and radio series!).

The trailers look very good, so I'll be keeping an eye out for it!

* made in the UK and thus free of the crushing censorship of the US Bible Belt that caused the cancellation of the sequels to The Golden Compass

I've just started watching "His Dark Materials" too, which I agree looks very promising. I also watched the first episode of "Watchmen", which I shall continue with when I find the time.
