Question: What is the best element to add to a TV ad to make the product sell?

Hot women.

I always remember the funny adverts.

Excellent point twopints.

But I'm glad you said hot women luc, klaxon for you.

Earlier work has suggested that sex and violence in television programmes deter people from paying attention to advertisements, but speculated that this may be overcome by using sex in the commercials as well. The new work suggests that this view is mistaken. It would appear that sex does not sell anything other than itself.

Irritation. As the sixty-plus pages of this thread amply demonstrates.

Barry Scott. I'd buy anything he'd lend his name to. There's somthing about his urbane, erudite, relaxed style that reaches my inner consumer and makes me want to go out and shop.

The product itself might be a good idea.

Controversy - gets people talking about it.

The music used is often a good weapon - if there's a good/catchy/both tune it will be remembered and immediately associated with the advert, and therefore with the product.

Yeah, I kinda like the "Hate something, change something, hate something, change something, make something betterrrrr!" song on one of the Honda (I think) adverts. And the bunnies and stuff are kinda cute...and it's all pretty and colourful. There was an online game of it too, on some website - you were a bunny and had to hop around and whack all the icky smelly machine thingys with your giant mallet which turned them into nice pretty flowers and stuff (and played the song) :P.

Oh, thanks! I now have A Swinging Safari from the ING Direct ads running through my head!
