Jonathan Ive one of the most important industrial designers of the computer age, He designed this:

this

this

this

and lots of other cool stuff for these people

although he hasn't yet designed anything as mind bogglingly complex or as useful as this

.

Charles Ives was an American insurance professional who, along with his friend Julian Myrick, formed the insurance company Ives & Myrick. These are the firm's offices.

In his spare time he was a composer, possible the first American composer of international renown. Apparently, people who knew him from his insurance business didn't know that he was also a composer. In this way he was obviously the inspiration for Hannah Montana who did her skool work whilst keeping her secret pop star identity a secret. Charles Ives's music was a bit better than Hannah Montana's though.

Burl Ives was a singer, writer and actor who appeared in "East of Eden" and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof".

If you're staying in St Ives, get a B&B or hotel as close to the seaside as possible, otherwise it's an excruciatingly steep climb back to wherever you're staying.

Now surely he has to get a mention in the "I" series - have you seen his full name?

Are you sure he designed that iPad, djgordy? I ask because that's not a real iPad, that looks to me like some Photoshopped mock-up of what people thought they'd end up looking like.

You may be right about that so, in the interests of balance, here is a real iPad.

Unless you're staying in St. Ives in Cambridgeshire, in which case it's not only a steep climb, but also a bloody long walk!

Burl Ives is best remembered in the United States as the Snowman in 1964's "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" made-for-tv animation. His performances of "Holly Jolly Christmas" "Silver and Gold" and "Rudolph the REd Nosed Reindeer" have become holiday shopping staples.

Jonathan Ive, the aforementioned Apple designer bod went to my high school. He's one of the two "famous" old boys we've got, the other being Dave Gorman.

Moosh, you underestimate yourself. Your school now has three "famous" old boys.
