Hello!
I am a huge QI fan and was wondering if there are other Canadian fans on here? Also, I've been curious lately what other nations think of Canada or Canadians and if we are perceived as different from the US? I'd love to hear what people think about this. |

Welcome.
I think you'll find one of our resident experts is also a Canadian, but what everyone thinks of her might not be the same towards all Canadians... :p |

Hi Canadianfan! I think CB27 may, by some misuse of the word "expert", have meant me there - I'm from Vancouver, although by this summer I'll have lived in England for twelve years.
There are a handful of Canadians who actually live in Canada around these forums as well, and an English guy who lives in Alberta (by an odd quirk of fate, his original home is only about twenty miles from my current home).
Now to your question. In Britain at least, yes, there are quite a lot of people around who will profess that they like Canadians but not Americans. While it's by no means the whole explanation, it cannot be denied that American foreign policy under GWB has had a lot to do with that perception.
I try my best to remind the world that Canadians are not Americans, but inevitably I get called "American" from time to time. (Especially since I'm from Vancouver, and hence my original accent was rather more like Seattle than Toronto.)
The bit I try to gloss over is that right now it's Canada which has the Conservative government and the USA which doesn't ... |

Well, as one of the resident USA members of this board, WELCOME!
I've visited Canada twice, and found it to be a lovely country, despite your perchance to twist your e and your r around. I've notice that you add extra U with an O occasionally. I suggest ejecting Quebec before they have you speaking more pseudo- French.
We love Canada in the United States. Some consider it the 51st state-but I don't think that way. As Johnathan Winters once said, upon receiving an comedy award in Canada, "You are such lovely people, I hope we can take you quietly." |

How do, CF.
I can't say I know that much aboot Canada apart from the usual boring stereotypes, eh.
The country has produced some good bands/musicians that I've enjoyed listening to over the years though... Rush, Leonard Cohen, Annihilator, DOA to name but a few.
I'll pass on Bryan Adams though.
