It's lunchtime now, so a stout does not seem too outrageous. .

Anecdote:-
I remember moving to this house. My brother and I decided to work all night, and return the rented van by 9 am so as not to incur another day's charges. We were up all night humping furniture/boxes/black bags and returned the van about 08:30 then we decided to 'reward' ourselves with a pint at a pub[1] with weird opening hours (6 am I believe, to allow for shift workers) was quite a funny feeling to be sitting in a pub[1] drinking a pint at 9am.

[1] Spit and sawdust old man's boozer, not a wine bar type pub.

Must say this gingerbread's jolly good. Not too much for breakfast.

Oh, and the stilton! Mmmmmm. Sage Derby :D. It's years since I've had that.

I don't think I'm going to move from the cheese board all day.

The Stilton's direct from the village where it's made, so it should be good quality...

Well, that's just a figure of speech. It definitely is good.

Gingerbread! Why didn't anybody say anything?
Does anybody have any Torun gingerbread? With jam inside? Mmm...

If only they didn't cover it in chocolate! I know, they don't always - but that's the sort I mainly see here.

The wiki page gives two interesting varieties:

* Devorative Gingerbread

* Gingerbread monuments

I've only had toruń gingerbread with chocolate :(

What I'd really fancy are some homemade speculaas... 'yorz?

Not the crumby commercial type, but solid, strongly spiced ones... mmmm...

I'm definitely in for that, if it could be arranged

I'm assuming 'speculaas' are not the same as the plural of speculum, as in the medical instrument used to examine inside body cavities.....

Not normally! Still, puts a whole new perspective on "dunking your speculaa."

I went to Buxton today. Not very exotic, but if anyone wants to refresh the palate I have some of the bottled spring water from they parts (still and sparkling).
