QI is the dodo appearing as a supporter of the Mauritius coat of arms. Excluding mythical beasts, is the dodo the only example of an extinct animal to perform this function?

Maidstone has an iguanodon as part of its coat of arms.

More extinct heraldic animals:

The aurochs or urus is quite popular in German heraldry.

Two Tasmanian tigers are to be found in the Tasmanian coat of arms. The last known specimen died in captivity, 59 days after the official protection of the species by the Tasmanian government was introduced on 10 July 1936.
