Some interesting things about 59:

- a number commonly worn on buttons by feminists.
- Daniel Defoe wrote his first novel (Robinson Crusoe) aged 59.
- the American Red Cross was founded in 1881 by Clara Barton, who was 59 at the time.
- the oldest major league baseball player was 59 (Satchel Paige).
- it is the number of stellations of icosahedra.
- In the year 59 AD, Nero's mother (Agrippina the Younger) died. This was because Nero ordered her to be killed.
Also, while searching on Wikipedia, I found this:
Quote:
59 is a magical golf score achieved on the PGA Tour by Al Geiberger, Chip Beck and David Duval and on the LPGA Tour by Annika Sörenstam.

MAGICAL GOLF SCORE!
