Forgive me if this matter has been raised earlier.

In TBOGI p. 91, we find the following:

'The fire stopped the plague by killing all the black rats and their breeding grounds ...'

However, in TSBOGI, p. 320:

'... the plague crisis was over six months before the Great Fire in September [1666]'

'No-one really knows why the plague stopped. Perhaps it was spontaneous.'

Now I really am confused!!!

I can't imagine the great fire "killing" the rats... Rats like dark dank sewers.

I can certainly imagine the fire burning clothes which were harbouring fleas and providing a somewhat sterile environment at least for a short while afterwards.
