I saw something a tv program once, cannot for the life of me remember what it was.. There was a group of people who had to watch a video and count how many times a ball was passed between team members of a basketball team. Since they were concentrating so hard on the counting that most of them didn't notice a bloke dressed as a gorilla walk into the middle of the screen and walk out again. These people then watched it again without counting and saw the gorilla and couldn't believe they hadn't seen it.

That was that series of programs on human senses or development or something- you know, the ones presented by that guy with the glasses.

I meant to put up a woodgrain on ebay that looked like the virgin Mary, but this'll have to do: (From ebay.com at $300,000)
Quote:
Never crafted or altered by the hand of man, the Body of Christ in Crucifixion depicted in a lifesize portrayal naturally grown into the trunk of a Tree. To my knowledge, there is only one Tree like this in all the world, there is no other. Few things can be as breath taking as to view this Tree in real life. This Tree depicts a remarkable resemblance of Jesus Christ in Crucifixion, where the Head is sagging, the Eye is correctly positioned in the Head, the Arms are raised above the Head in the attitude of Crucifixion, and the Wound from the Spear is apparent in the Torso of the Body. This Tree is as appears in the unretouched photo provided. It is my hope the Tree will be purchased by a church or organization and transplanted in life to a location where this Tree can more readily be viewed by the world as it should be, or kept by a private buyer who will reverence it.The Tree is alive, and I believe will easily survive relocation. There can be no shipping provided as this is a fully grown Tree, and the purchaser must accept all responsibilty for the disposition of the Tree, relocation and/or transplant, and the sale of the Tree is final. No amount less than the starting bid amount will be considered. This Tree has grown upon land owned and paid for, for nearly a quarter century, and the actual section of the Tree depicting Christ has, to my knowledge, never been touched by man, woman or child. This Tree is, in my opinion, a true wonder of the world, and has, in my belief, miracles to it remaining, by the hand of God, a method as was the pool of Bethesda, and the serpent of brass God instructed Moses to place in the camp of the Israelites to heal those stricken, for those who are familar with these references. More I cannot say. In the question of whether 300,000 is a large sum, which question has been posed, truly, it is a small amount to pay for what is able through the Tree.

Sadly, no one's bidded. But the virgin Mary wood's gone for good I think. Unlike this at $1000:
You can buy a

but with nine bidders the price keeps going up.
On the other hand if you're serious with a buy-it-now price of $1000000 and a starting bid of $200000:

The red circle in the original post never disappears for me. I've been rocking back and forth like a 'disadvantaged person' for the last ten minutes and it's always there. Does this mean I am amazing?

I often notice the 'tick delay' when looking at my watch. Damn our poorly evolved eyes!

That's because the relevant areas of the eye are not in the same horizontal plane.

As you can see in this image:

The Fovea centralis (the small area of the retina which has only cones and which gives you your most acute vision) is not in the same horizontal plane as the Papilla nervi optici (the 'blind spot'/area where the optic nerve leaves the retina/eye).

You'll have to move your head fairly close to the screen so your nose is approximately 10 cm/4 inches from the screen and if you then slightly tilt your head sideways you'll see the circle disappear.
Remember this is when you close your left eye. If you close your right eye look at the circle and you'll see the square disappear.

Ah yes, the tilt did it.

I'm still amazing though, right?
