I love that quote - send it to Mitch, Mat, if he hasn't seen it. If Utah Phillips isn't a QI person, I don't know who is.

It also appears to have a hare-lip. Bloody goats being entered into beauty contests*, that's what comes of living in a nanny state.

*I watched my wording very carefully there.

Acting like a maniac*...

I haven't quite gone this far yet...

Bang that head that doesn't bang*, indeed.

They used to warn of possible brain bruising with head-banging (a similar phenomenon to "shaken baby syndrome") but realised that you would have to have mechanical aids to bang your head hard and fast enough to actually damage it.

It probably isn't awfully healthy to headbang for prolonged periods, but it probably won't bruise your brain either.

My doctor once told me that because I'm a headbanger I'm less likely to suffer a whiplash injury if I'm ever involved in a car crash. I don't know if it's something to do with strengthened neck muscles or the fact that I've (probably) already got whiplash, but if my doctor told me, that's good enough for me!

Yay; health benefits.

It's probably a combination of increased flexibility and strengthened neck muscles. The vigorous back and forwards neck motion associated with car crash injuries isn't something we normally do, after all, unless we are headbanging.

Flying the not so friendly skies - Qantas

When we booked our trip to New Zealand, my 10 year said in a rather panicked fashion: "We're not flying on Qantas are we Mum???"

We're flying Air New Zealand. Nuff Said.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has lost a court case. It's the sixth one he has brought since becoming Le Président, and the first he has lost.

On this occasion, the case concerned voodoo dolls. A publishing company has been selling voodoo dolls in his image, complete with pins for insticking purposes. M Sarkozy reckons he has "exclusive and absolute rights" over his own image, but the court ruled that the dolls fall within the right to free expression. Segolène Royal, his Socialist rival in the presidential election, was also endollified but did not bring legal action.

(Yes, I did make a word up back there. I want to be the first citation!)
