Q: Which celebrity/celebrities has/have the most followers on Twitter?
K: Stephen Fry

I know. It's sad and it's horrible, but it is true.

Twitter is a micro-blogging site. It works like a normal blog, but all the posts are no longer than 140 characters long.

Wikipedia page about Twitter
Stephen Fry's Twitter
Alan Davies's Twitter
QI's Twitter
The Museum of Curiosity's Twitter

...and they must be really mundane, as in:-
"just off for a cup of tea now".
followed by
"think I'll have a biscuit with it"
then
"off to the toilet to get rid of it all now"

or contain in-jokes as in.
" oh and Steve your uncle Willy says "all the best" LOL"

Surely thats a reason not to follow people who send pointless updates. Not a reaosn to avoid the whole thing?!

I do like twitter. It doesn't really make sense until you try it and get involved.

It also means me and a my friends outside the UK can text each other for free !

Incidentally, I wouldn't count Coldplay as they are clearly using Twitter as a cold, calculating marketing tool, which is very bad form.

Tut tut.

And I would imagine, looking at their posts its done by someone from their record company.

I hereby disqualify them as they are clearly not blogging and are cheating therefore Fry is most popular !!

Well, I suppose the main reason I don't use Twitter is that I don't have a use for it. I don't need to blog anything.

Need? Who only does things because they need to?! :)

Though working out how to use it to text people in Australia and USA for free has revolutionised my personal international relations.

Apart from that, its entertainment.. kills time on the bus, and Ive been having quite a nice few chats with Jason Manford (from 8/10 Cats). Ive also been directed to quite a few interesting websites and articles through it...

It should probably be pointed out that the source given in the OP only includes UK twitterers. There are Americans with higher follower numbers than Coldplay.

As I mentioned on another thread, people who follow slebs on Twitter are no different than people who follow slebs through the pages of "OK Magazine".

Get some real friends instead.

You spend all your time twittering and all your real acquaintances and friends bugger off and do all the interesting stuff of life leaving you endlessly entering txt spk message into your phone.

Eventually, you realise that nothing interesting is happening in your life, you get very depressed, which alienates the few real people with whom you still have any interaction.

You retreat to your bedroom where you chain-smoke and refuse to come out, finally leading to you being evicted, whereupon you return to your parents house.

This makes you even more depressed and you kill yourself.

Your mother is honoured by receiving a Darwin Award for Lifetime Achievement.
