| In the latest edition of QI; Stehen Fry mentions that artificial raspberry jam was made in 'past hard times' using cheaper fruit and vegetables. One of his guests asked about him 'What about the seeds' and Stephen explained that these were made out of wood. This took me back nearly 60 years; then there was a very popular radio show called 'Have a go', this was hosted by Wilfred Pickles who would invite members of the audience to come on stage to answer general knowledge questions to try to win a small cash prize. But first he would ask a few personal questions of these one was always 'what do you do'? The answer to this question that had him and the audiance most perplexed was ' I make raspberry seeds out of beech wood at the jam factory'. We had it hard in those days. |

I think he's talking about TV - not real life. The two are easily confused... |

Hi David, welcome aboard!
When the elves were discussing this little matter before its use on the show, there was some skepticism expressed. As Mr Jack says, it's always good to have more support than the Fortean Times and the Fruit Group Newsletter of the Royal Horticultural Society! (Those esteemed journals having been the "proof" of the matter until now.) |

Ah yes, the Fruit Group Newsletter...happy days.
Times were simpler then, before the Great Margarine Controversy.
As for you, young Posital:

You think he's talking about TV, and I don't doubt that for a moment. But that's because you and a pot plant are easily confused.
Mr Ossitt and I were talking about the wireless... |

lol - It's oh so easy to confuse radio and real life - my mistake. I apologise unreservedly.
Please continue "talking" - don't let me interrupt. |

So David gets a point for an incorrect challenge and keeps the subject.
David - you now have 42 seconds on "Fake Raspberry Pips", starting NOW...
