This is a useful feature except.......

when my computer crashes and I log back in, it's limited to the posts in the brief intervening period, and I've no way of listing the posts I'd not got around to viewing before the dreaded lurgy struck.

Any chance of having a "View posts made in the last 24 hours" or "View last 100 posts" option?

I don't know bob, but I'll raise it with dr.bob, who may have an idea.

Damn jenny - you spoiled my run - there were 12 topics listed since my last visit and I had the final post on 11 of them (all relevant btw). I just posted a non-relevant to the 12th (I couldn't think of anything to say on the topic but wanted to get the full set) - and now I return to the forum list and find I've got to post this to fix the problem.

Dr Bob better come up with a fantastic solution to the real question to justify this intrusion.

ah but - not for long is still enough - now, having achieved a full 15 seconds on 12 posts - question is should i go for a longer time or more posts?

Why?

Suddenly it all becomes clear....

Having the last 15/20 posts doesn't prove anything other than the fact you can either type quickly, or you're on the boards when few other people are. For some reason, people do get gripped with similar manias from time to time, but they usually grow out of it when they start doing their GCSEs.

I think the answer to your question 'longer time/more posts?' how about 'higher quality' instead?

And besides that, always being the last poster makes one look like a perpetual thread-killer.

I feel slighted - all bar one of my posts were relevant; and I only posted the 12th when I happened to notice I'd almost got a clean sweep. :(

Any news on this question?

I haven't heard back from dr.bob yet, so I assume he's looking at the problem. Probably scratching his head too.

ah - ok - I only resurrected it because as you've probably guessed the curse of gates struck again.

At least one of the two suggestions ought to be possible with code something like this :-

SELECT * FROM POSTS
WHERE POSTER_ID = ID_OF_POSTER
AND POST_DATE_AND_TIME >= (however you express NOW - however you express 24 hours)
ORDER BY POST_DATE_AND_TIME DESCENDING

For the other, perhaps using a cursor to fetch 100 posts from :-

SELECT * FROM POSTS
INTO POSTERS_POSTS
WHERE POSTER_ID = ID_OF_POSTER
ORDER BY POST_DATE_AND_TIME DESCENDING

...FETCH POSTER_CURSOR
...ETC

Or maybe not?
