I am just listening to the chat extras on the C Series DVD, and I couldn't help but notice that the fact about democracies declaring war was attributed to Jeremy Hardy, when it was actually Jeremy Clarkson. I wouldn't have mentioned it, if it wasn't for my need to give due credit to Mr. Clarkson as I am a fan of his.

So... sorry about that.

So - you'll be pleased to know that Mr Clarkson was wrong then? (As he often is).

Personal vendetta aside, I feel it's not particularly relevant whether or not it is a factual statement, but simply who it was that made it.

Yes, I feel it's important that we should correctly identify who made the erroneous statement :)

I guess whoever was providing the chat extras must've been hitting the laudanum a bit too hard that day.

In The Book of General Ignorance: The Noticeably Stouter Edition, the book gives quotes from different episodes of the show. However, it gives a quote to the wrong Jeremy.

In it, it says that Jeremy Clarkson said, "He had major, major commitment problems, didn't he? I imagine, every time, he said, "Oh, it's not you. It's me." And then, I suppose, they had a trail separation, which involved a brief trial and a very major separation!"

However, I think you will find that that was Jeremy Hardy who said that quote.

Come now Ian. You may very well be right, but we'll need to see the evidence for this assertion. MinervaMoon's transcripts site may be considered as definitive...

Here is the Script. Not only was it Hardy who said it, Clarkson wasn't even in the episode.

Good work Ian, you have proved your assertion. The wrong Jeremy it indeed was!

What's a trail separation? It sounds awfully painful.

Not really - Robert Frost wrote a poem about it.

How odd, it was me who went through and chose all of these quotes, also pointing out who said what. I've checked my original e-mail, and can't find exactly where the mistake was made.

Anyway, a mistake it surely was. So sorry. My bad. No elf-biscuits for me this week.
