(Sound of sirens and klaxons, etc.) I've decided to take the plunge and join the QI group.

You really don't know what you're in for.

Welcome RLDavies :-)

No relation to Alan I suppose? Or Ray even?

Nope, no relation to Alan (aww).

Apparently I am distantly related to John Goodman, but never mind about that.

Hey RLDavies, relative of Alan Davies?

Mrs Davies, actually, not Mister. Related to Colin Davies by marriage. Not the conductor.

RL stands for Roberta Lynn, but everybody calls me Robbie. (But Robbie was already taken in this forum.)

Hello :)

I thought I might as well describe myself a little more, since it's all bound to come out in various postings.

I'm female, 47 (mental age 7), married to Colin (69). We live in Bolton, don't like it, and would love to be able to afford to move back south. No children, no pets.

I work as a freelance editor/proofreader, with virtually 100% of my work being the proofreading of puzzle magazines.

I have Asperger's syndrome, synaesthesia, prosopagnosia (face blindness), and assorted lesser neurological interestingnesses. More than happy to talk about any of these at any time. Just try to stop me.

I am an occultist, or more specifically an occult philosopher (seeking understanding through intellectual study rather than intuitive enlightenment), working within the western occult tradition. More than happy to discuss this as well, with believers, non-believers, and total sceptics, as long as minds remain open and attitudes polite. I respect and admire all religions but disagree with "one true path" fanatics of any persuasion.

I'm an active member of the following forums: Disturbing Auctions Daily, Talk Magic (both as Robbie); Adland (as RLDavies); Adventure Gamers (as Davies); NaNoWriMo (as BlockBuster). Although I'm active in NaNoWriMo only during November when we're all writing.

What an interesting person you are RLD! There must be something about QI that attracts people with Asperger's syndrome - I know a few contributors have mentioned having it, and at least one of the elves. I'm interested in the prosopagnosia thing as well because I know nothing at all about it. Fancy starting a thread in Quite Interestrings to talk about it? We might all learn something.
