Have we ever done this?

<<MYTHCONCEPTIONS: Ground Glass by Mat Coward

THE MYTH: Ground glass is a deadly poison.

THE "TRUTH": Finely powdered glass has long been claimed as a method of both murder and manslaughter, when secreted in food or used to adulterate substances such as recreational drugs - but this belief was debunked (by experimentation) as long ago as 1642, and frequently since. The key point is simply that in order to be large enough to cause even minor internal injury, the fragments of glass would need to be so big as to be impossible not to notice in the mouth. Powdered, glass is harmless.

DISCLAIMER: “One does not dispose of a belief by showing that it is irrational,” noted George Orwell, and I shall continue to be amongst those who shun ground glass as a foodstuff. Meanwhile, any innardologist who can refute the refutations of this story should air his gripes on the letters pages.

No, we never have. Shall I put your home address onto the credit roll so that the writs can be sent to you directly?

Well it may be controversial, but Chrisug's argument would certainly stand out.
