Question: Name something designed by Gustav Eiffel?

Forfeit: Eiffel Tower

Double forfeit: Statue of Liberty

Answer: Erm. Nothing? Nobody Knows? Um.

Morris Koechlin, an employee of Eiffel that designed the thousand foot Eiffel Tower, while Eiffel merely engineered the internal structure of the Statue of Liberty, it was Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi who designed and sculpted the statue. He was supposed to have based the face of the Statue on his mother and the body on his mistress.

I see no evidence that the masons had anything to do with the Statue of Liberty; except for on sites like freemason.com, who appear to just claim that everyone important in the history of mankind was a member of their special club. Everyone, that is, who is dead and cannot therefore confirm or deny.

Is the story of Victor Lustig, "the man who sold the Eiffel Tower", too well-known to be usable? If we asked, say, "how would you sell the Eiffel Tower and get away with it?" would everybody know the answer?

It mightn't matter if we tell them all to come up with their own schemes and then discuss the way Lustig did it. But if everyone in tellyland knows the story already it might not be sufficiently QI.

Freud must've had a field day!

Did we use the factoid about the Eiffel Tower weighing less than the air around it?
