A friend of mine is a writer of kick-ass novels of the paranormal, and one of hers, called Darkling, has a vampire (one of three half-human half-fae sisters). I don't think they're published in the UK, but they're published by Berkeley over here, and I heard they'd sold German and French translation rights. See http://www.galenorn.com/

Good site ... thankyou Jenny

The books are available on Amazon, but I'd have to check out Waterstones or Borders to see if they are available there, but I'm presuming they will be

It's been a while, but I've looked out more of my vampire stuff to share with you all.

The Blood Fetish by Morley Roberts (1857 - 1942), Roberts states he was inspired by an incident which happened to him while living in Africa. It is the tale of a severed hand that resorts to vampirism in order to sustain itself.

Other titles by Roberts include:
The Adventures of the Broad Arrow (1897) - set in the Australian outback
The Colossus (1899)
The Degradation of Geoffrey Alwith (1908)
The Serpent's Fang (1930)
The White Mamaloi (1931)

The Land of the Time-Leeches by Gustav Meyrink (1868 - 1932)

His books, though only banned during WW1, were actually burned by the Nazis in WW2.

Other works include:
The Waxworks (1907)
The Golem (1915) - a huge artificial clay man is brought back to life by a rabbi in Prague in order to protect his ghetto.
The Green Face (1916)
At the Threshold and Beyond (1923)

:)

The Golem was so good, that it has been used by several films and also, oddly, by Marvel Comics (if memory serves). I'll have to go and look it up, but I am certain it was an old Captain America comic that used the story.

The Elder Brother - Charles Caldwell Dobie (1881 - 1943)

In this story appears the mesmerising Elena, first Native American vampire, and is set among the Greek emigrants of San Francisco

Other works include:
The Blood Red Dawn (1920)
The Arrested Moment (1927)
San Francisco Tales (1935)

A recent post reminded of this thread and it is only appropriate that it comes back from the dead.

It is interesting to note how the popularity of vampires has blossomed over the last few years. Perhaps it is the "ultimate emo/Goth" image that appeals, because it is undeniable that it is the moody and broody young male vampire that is popular.

I have no idea why this vampire:

should be sexier than this one:

Both are, after all, undead monsters who suck blood. Sleeping with either would amount to necrophilia.

An interesting point.

If someone is dead but still wandering about, does sleeping with them still count as necrophilia. I would argue that it did because they are still dead (in the sense of not being alive), but on the other hand they are not strictly dead either (in the sense that they have active senses).

Does being animated by Evil Powers post-mortem make you less dead?

I've been wondering that of the X Factor for years.
