Hello All

Currently you can search for your own posts. Can there be a new facility where you can search for topics? For example you want to create a post about apples. To check if a topic has or has not been created about the subject, the user can query on the site if it exists. If it does exist then you don't need to create a new topic, if not you can start one.

Are you talking about the lack of ability to query using the titles of threads, rather than just the content of the posts?

I think he is, I also had difficulting finding the House thread using the Search feature (No one had used it in so long).
You can create a Google search that just searches one site, hold on I'll have a go:

Good work Kieron! I'll draw that to Gray's attention to see if it can be used on the site.

I'm just glad to help. :P

If you need any the Code for any of the Search/Result boxes (It can be embedded) I'll gladly post/email/pm them to anyone that wants to search the Forum from the comfort of their own website.

It's also possible to add narrow down features, like 'General Banter Search' etc.

Apparently you can do a similar search directly from Google by using the format "search term" site:qi.com/talk, though you can put the bits in inverted commas either before or after the site:qi.com/talk bit.

It's also possible to configure it such that it only searches the Page title, in the case of this Forum it would mean searching the Topic name.

I'll have look at applying that to my custom search.

I am a fool, I tried the search forums at the top left and this answers my question, so does KieronCreagh's QI Search Machine.

I should have played around with this site before creating this thread.

Prof, you should have created this thread, because it's brought to general attention the fact that the search feature on the forums ignores the titles of threads. :-)
