The Dalai Lama isn't a vegetarian either. I read in some Buddhist source or other (can't remember, sorry!) that his doctor told him he had to eat meat at least some of the time for health reasons, so he eats it for six months of the year, but only every other day and in small quantities.

I think I'd rather have the Dalai Lama's table talk than Hitler's.

Buddhist monks would not have to be vegetarian. They have no possessions except their begging bowl, and they survive only by being given food into their bowl. They generally eat what they are given, even if this invludes meat. Of course, the Dalai Lama probably has a lot of choice over what food he is gifted.

This is true. I seem to recall that the Buddha instructed his followers to accept anything that was put in their bowls, even if it was a leprous finger.

Now that's dedication to which I don't think I could ever aspire...

Nice to see you here BP :-)

I used to frequent a vegetarian cafe in Snottingham that had a list of famous veggies on their wall. Adolf was not included. I had thought that the owners were just trying to disassociate themselves from him but perhaps they did their research after all.

As to Elvis Presley's real hair colour, it seems to have been ash-blond when he was younger and then went to dark chestnut by the time he started his career. My hair was blond when I was younger and then turned dark so I can believe this.

Likewise, djgordy, blonde-to-dark-wise.

Also I have a touch of the ginge-brush meself, so I feel I'm entitled to use the term.
